Are you a State Senator from Wisconsin? Well, even if you’re not, you’re still welcome to Hideaway in this Little City with a Big Life! Find out more at gorockford.com and find us on facebook at facebook.com/gorockfordregion
@larrybud
“if I don’t show up for my job, I get fired!”
And even when you do show up, you earn about half of what a person doing the exact same job does working for the government.
@larrybud You mean that a bunch of unkempt weirdos who smell like they haven’t taken a shower in 2 weeks wouldn’t be chanting “larry bud’s a hero! larry bud’s a hero!” if you didn’t show up for your job?
I have people around me insisting that blowing off your work is being a hero. I am too afraid to try it myself. There are plenty of things I don’t like at work, but I do them anyway because that’s my job.
I’m a retired public employee and former AFSCME member in Wisconsin, but good on ya, Rockford! Go for it! Always hated that “escape to Wisconsin” slogan anyway. I guess we could take the “to” out of it now… LOL! Is Toad Hall still around? Always loved browsing through all the interesting stuff they have.

I used to think that Rockford sucked. But Madison sucks even more.
Great job John Groh in taking advantage of the publicity. This is a great video!
Ricks checkerboard iPad case is my new favorite thing about Rockford. If it’s your as well. Go and get one from the Griffin Technology website
@TimeLady8 Free market capitalism is what destroyed Rockford. Back in the 80s, several large corporations strong-armed the local manufacturing industry into selling off. The corporations immediately moved way south or out of the country, taking all the jobs with them. Rockford was completely dependent on the manufacturing industry, so when they left, they absolutely annihilated the job market and the entire local economy. Greedy corporate attitudes need to go. Capitalism can stay if it behaves.
@ZapatistaDiF Oh, goodie, more class warfare. You want to know what caused the “greedy” corporations to move south? Greedy politicians raising taxes on the “rich” making it impossible to compete. What was the first thing the Illinois legislature did this year to make up it’s budget gap? It raised taxes on businesses 66%. I forsee even more busnesses fleeing for “greener” more business friendly pastures.
@TimeLady8 You’re calling the politicians greedy like they pocketed the profits. No, they used it for social programs that benefit 12 million people instead of a few thousand. And in terms of being “business-friendly”, there’s no way we could compete with China, etc if we continue to demand things like “fair wages” and “weekends”. It’s clear that certain corporations (like the ones that left Rockford in the dust) would simply rather make a greater profit than be loyal to Americans.
@ZapatistaDiF You’ve swallowed the social justice milarky hook, line, and sinker. How is it “fair” to take property belonging to one person who has worked for it and give it to another person who has not? When I was young, we called that stealing. After more than 50 years, who’s winning the war on poverty? Rather than demanding “fair wages” and “weekends,” why not demand less regulations on companies so they can actually afford to pay their employees?
@TimeLady8 Corporations do that all the time, it’s called WORKER EXPLOITATION.
@TimeLady8 We have a twisted sense of what it means to “work for it” in this country. Why do teachers and nurses get paid $35,000 for 60-hour workweeks while some corporate executives get paid $4 million to work 3 hours a day and then go golfing with other important people? And the scarcity argument isn’t universally valid; at least 1 of 10 employees could perform as well as an executive just as well in certain cases, but they didn’t make the right friends at the right time.
@Nikademus1969 Spoken like a true communist. You’ve never heard of the Department of Labor? Every state in the union has labor laws in place protecting workers.
@ZapatistaDiF You think nurses hours are long now, just wait until Obamacare kicks in. BTW, anything over 40 hours is overtime. (Nurses make $60K per year) Do you begrudge Bill Gates his millions? He invested everything he owned and worked those 60+ hour weeks to build his company. Corporate Execs paid their dues but no one sees that. You just want the fruits of THEIR labor. If being rich is evil, why is everyone going to college? To get ahead for what? To bear 40-70% of the tax burden?
@TimeLady8 I’m sort of fine with Bill Gates (the monopoly thing was pretty evil) as I am with people who have truly innovative ideas, work hard, don’t cheat the system, and especially if they invest their wealth back into the community. Being wealthy isn’t inherently evil but there are those that abuse the capitalist system (note that I’ve been saying “some”). And keep in mind, they’re bearing the fruits of our labor, too. Without a hardworking working class, businesses don’t succeed.
@ZapatistaDiF What you are talking about is Cronie Capitalism. That’s what happens when politicians get in bed with big business to scratch each other’s back. Same goes with the Unions. The fight is WI is about money, but not for the rank & file. Go to open secrets.org and check the top all-time donors 1989-2010
@HowTheWorldWorks
I made a video debunking some of your claims:

Very well done!
You got to love the creativity and the spin on the current policital topic of the moment. Kudos to the team who came up with this….(From Wisconsin, but not a State Senator).
