I’m looking for a weekend (or maybe just an overnight) getaway idea for my anniversary. It will just be me and my husband. We’re hoping to take a train for the first time, so somewhere that Amtrak travels to would be helpful. We currently live in central Illinois and are willing to take a train to northern or southern Illinois or equal distances in other directions. We love history, antiques and even places that are supposedly haunted. We will be travelling at the end of October. A place with a fun festival would be nice but not necessary. Basically, we just want the following:
Amtrak accessible
Nice place to stay like a bed and breakfast or old, quirky hotel.
Interesting scenery such as a river or lake, etc
A few good dining options as I can’t have gluten and we love trying new things
Nothing too pricey. We’d like to spend no more than 150 for one night.
Something fall or halloween related as far as events or activities go would be perfect!
We’re in our late 20′s/early 30′s but we don’t like to go to clubs or anything like that.

Okay, so my husband and I are celebrating our 1ST Anniversary next month and since he can’t really take off work we only have 2 days to do something. We live in GA and can travel anywhere in the US. Me and my fiance are celebrating our anniversary on the weekend of October 17th-19th and want to go away. We live in the poconos and want to go somewhere different. We are on a bit of a tighter budget though. Anywhere within 5 or 6 hours driving time, somewhere romantic, and somewhere that we don’t have to do a lot of driving when we get there. Thank you!
